We all hold opinions that may or may not be defensible. Like which fast food joint has the best fries (it’s BK) or the best chicken nuggets (Popeyes, don’t doubt me).

We argue about which state is the best (correct answer: Oregon) and whether it’s called soda, pop, coke, or soda pop (it’s pop).

We even debate on the correct pronunciation of GIF (honestly, I forgot which one I preferred) and which local Chinese restaurant is the best.

But one thing that is not debatable is that vinyl swing sets are better than wood swing sets.

Why do I say that? Here are three reasons:

Maintenance

With a wood swing set, you should re-stain it every 2 to 3 years and refinish it every 1 to 2 years. That’s not fun. With vinyl, you set it and forget it. Spot wash as necessary.

Longevity

The vinyl sleeve does a wonderful job protecting the interior wood from the elements and since we use treated lumber on the inside of the sleeve, it is guaranteed against rot and decay.

Splinter Free

No one likes performing a splinter removal on a squirming kid. The exasper-gasping, the yelling, the crying; and that’s even before you touch the splinter with the tweezers. Vinyl sets are splinter-free.

Long story short, wood swing sets are great, but vinyl swing sets are just better. With that zero maintenance, that longevity, and that silky smooth vinyl exterior, vinyl sets are the way to go.
